The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Vrugte boorde in Ceres beskadig deur hael
Vrugteboere in Ceres in die Bolandstreek het sowat 95 persent van hulle oeste verloor in 'n haelstorm wat die gebied verlede week getref het. Die storm het nie net 'n uitwerking op die uitvoere gehad nie, maar ook op die aantal tydelike werksgeleenthede in die gebied. Boere in die Witzenbergvallei is veral swaar getref.- RSG Nuus
Does anybody have more information on this event. I am specifically referring to average size of hailstones, length of the hailstorm and the layer and the thickness of the layer that fell. Any information will be much appreciated
