The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Fire destroys a house in Mitchell’s Plain – 24 people homeless
A fire occurred at 09:32 on Sunday, 05 August 2012 at 14 Magnolia Street Lentegeur, Mitchell’s Plain.
The fire destroyed a double storey dwelling resulting in the displacement of 13 adults and 11 children.
The City’s disaster response teams will provide humanitarian and social relief aid today to the victims.
It is unclear how the fire started and an inquest docket has been opened to investigate the incident.
No persons sustained any injuries.
