The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Cold-fronts SW-Cape 3-5 October 2012
Another series of (weak) cold fronts is likely to reach the SW-Cape on Wed 3rd and Thurs 4th. These are likely to bring moderate amounts of rain, strong winds at times, and very cold conditions by Thurs 4th.
Another cold-front is possible on Sun 7th, but the models are rather uncertain at this stage (6 days ahead).
This custom GFS chart shows the likely rainfall between 12Z and 24Z on Thurs 4th, along with the freezing level at 18Z. Snow is possible above 1600m on the SW-Cape mountains.
