The weather over Cape Town changed drastically in the last 24 hours, from a scorching 31C on Fri 2nd, to dense fog and overcast during the morning of Sat 3rd. Both of these were caused by a coastal low, which first brought dry air from the interior during the day, then cool moist air overnight.
Its hard to illustrate this effectively from the suface (overcast just looks grey), but the satellite image shows a stunning swirl of clouds over Cape Town, with just the tips of Table Mountain and the Peninsula mountains breaking the pattern:
