The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

70 kids stung by bees in Bapsfontein
BAPSFONTEIN - More than 70 children have been stung by bees at a primary school in Bapsfontein on the East Rand, Johannesburg.
Thirty-three of the pupils were rushed to hospital with allergic reactions.
The local municipality said it had to deploy a mobile clinic to the school to deal with the incident.
Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management's spokesperson William Ntladi said they were still treating the children at the school.
