The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Video: Rescue mission Suicide Gorge (10 February 2012)
Spydamonky1 writes: After a nasty fall down a small rock face, a friend required an airlift from the top of Suicide Gorge. The chopper landed in order to conserve fuel while the medics prepared him for the lift.
