Firefighters in the Cape Winelands hope to contain an out of control blaze in the Waterval Mountains near Tulbagh on Tuesday.
The fire, which has since spread to the other side of the mountain, broke out on Saturday.
More than a dozen fire engines and five helicopters have been dispatched to the area.
No property or lives are currently in danger.
Cape Winelands District Municipality’s Roysten Harris said they expect to be there for a while.
“The fire is out of control so we will be here until we can bring it under control,” he said.
Meanwhile, Cape Town firefighters extinguished a blaze at a Mitchells Plain grocery store.
The fire erupted inside the Atlantic Cash and Carry just before 12am on Monday night.
City Fire Service's Theo Layne said four fire engines and four water tankers were dispatched to assist fire personnel.
“The entire store was alight. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined."
Cape Town firefighters confirmed three people have died in fire-related incidents in Cape Town since New Year’s Day.
