Cape Winelands fire officials on Wednesday said about 2,000 hectares of land has been destroyed in a mountain fire near Tulbagh.
Officials said the fire was under control and only one house was destroyed.
About 150 crew members are working around the clock to try and extinguish the blaze which started in the Waterval Mountains on Saturday.
Cape Winelands fire chief Dani Wilds said, “We haven’t calculated at this stage, but it is an estimate of more than 2,000 hectares of fynbos and alien vegetation and plantations that are destroyed.
