High accident locations to be identified
Western Cape traffic officials on Wednesday said they are working on identifying the various high accident locations across the province.
The Western Cape Department of Transport said it has commissioned an assessment of the frequency and locations of fatal accidents.
In December more than 130 people died in road accidents in the Western Cape.
Western Cape Transport MEC Robin Carlisle said the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research are compiling a full report with a list of the locations.
"These are going to be presented to me early in this year to look at. We are then going to decide what to do about those,” he said.
Carlisle said they need to be able to identify all high accident locations.
“These are the so-called black spots. They differ. Some of them are pedestrian black spots and some of them are vehicle black spots,” he said.
