SAWD0S Holiday Alert 2011/2012

Resident helps girls in distress

MOSSEL BAY NEWS - This past week a local resident from Diaz Strand noticed some girls in distress deep beyond the breakers. He managed to help two of them back to the beach using his boogie board. They then alerted him to a third girl still at sea.

He made his way to this girl, and although the boogie board kept them afloat, the backwash kept dragging them deeper off shore. Family members saw what was happening and a friend came to his aid.

Together, they managed to reach a sandbank after which a lifesaver reached them and assisted everyone to safety.
