A search is on for a teenager presumed drowned at the Silverstream beach resort near Atlantis, Western Cape.
A search continued on Thursday for a teenager presumed drowned at the Silverstream beach resort near Atlantis, Western Cape police said.
“Divers are searching along the coast, but there is no sign of a body yet,” Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Traut said.
The 18-year-old boy disappeared on Wednesday after entering the water, despite rough conditions.
National Sea Rescue Institute spokesman Craig Lambinon said lifeguards had closed the beach for swimming due to rough seas and strong rip currents.
The teenager apparently waded into the ocean and was last seen being swept against rocks and disappearing under water.
He was from Darling, a small town about 75km north of Cape Town.
