A Pretoria holidaymaker has died and two others have been rescued after they were swept out to sea off Illovo beach in KwaZulu-Natal.
The men had been swimming when they landed in a strong current.
Authorities believe the 60-year-old man may have suffered a heart attack.
Paramedics tried to resuscitate him, but he was declared dead on the scene.
One of the rescued swimmers is being treated in hospital.
The other was examined on the beach and left in the care of his family.
