Dismay at closure of boating radio service!

I enclose an article that appeared in the newspaper, Thursday.......its about the demise of 'penguin', the radio station up at Cape Point. I think you must pop it on the blog, and lets see what response comes thru, from it. I certainly have a lot to add to it, especially the negative response from the NSRI, whom are financially supported by 90% of the people, whom used 'penguin'. read it and let me know.. with thanks, andrew perrins, ex-chairman, and ex-safety officer of CBSC, for 35 years. PS: I used to have to go in 40 knots of wind, and replace the broken antennas, up at Cape Point, when I was a youngster. There is a huge story behind penguin, and how, and why it came about, and about the light house keepers, we were like a family. To see it 'just close', and have no contact with 'light house services', so we can put a repeater in, is..well unsafe, what about the safety of the boats fishing off Cape Point, out of cell phone reach? - Andrew Perrins
