Cape Town - Three retirement villages, one school and a stable in Hout Bay were evacuated on Monday afternoon due to a raging fire in the region.
Kronendal Retirement Village was still being evacuated “as we speak”, the Hout Bay Watch Con told News24, while the Spinneys Retirement Village and Bay Mews Retirement Village were evacuated earlier.
Kerry Seamore who was fetching her child at Kronendal Primary said she also saw about 30 horses being walked out of the Hout Bay stables and taken about 2km down the road.
Tweeters in the area said they feared the fire “was out of control” and that it was “about to burn down houses”.
Cape Town Fire and Rescue’s Theo Layne said 11 fire trucks were sent to fight the blaze.
