Johannesburg - A man died after he fell into a drainage system in Alexandra, near Sandton, on Sunday morning, said the Johannesburg emergency management services.
The man, believed to be around 50 years of age, was walking in the street at around 02:00 when he fell into the drainage system, spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said.
"When we arrived on the scene, we found the man had passed on. He was declared dead at the scene," said Mulaudzi.
Head injuries sustained from the impact of the fall appeared to be the cause of death.
Mulaudzi warned the public to be careful when walking near open drainage systems, especially at night.
