Western Cape firefighters are monitoring Hermanus and Stanford following a vegetation fire in the area earlier this week.
Authorities believe the blaze could flare up, despite bringing it under control overnight.
The fire is being fuelled by strong winds and sweltering temperatures from a heatwave, pushing firefighters to the limit.
Several water tankers and helicopters were used in the area as the fire department battled to extinguish the flames.
Overstrand Fire Chief Riaan Jacobs said Sunday will be tough.
“There’s a big chance that the fire can pick up again, but we are ready to deal with it.”
