Tokio – 'n Erge storm het Dinsdag chaos in Japan veroorsaak, met sterk winde en swaar reën wat tienduisende mense gestrand gelaat het.
Windvlae van tot 100 km/h is vir die ooste van die land – ook Tokio – voorspel, en kusgebiede kan selfs onder sterker wind deurloop, het Japan se weeragentskap gesê.
Meer as 240 vlugte is vertraag en treindienste is opgeskort.
Volgens voorspellers dwing 'n groeiende laagdrukstelsel in die See van Japan 'n koue front oor die land, wat swaar reën en sterk winde veroorsaak.
"Dit is soos die kern van 'n tifoon, maar dit bly lank, terwyl 'n tifoon gewoonlik veel vinniger verbybeweeg," het 'n woordvoerder vir die Japanse metereologiese agentskap gesê.
"Sulke sterk winde is baie skaars," het hy gesê.
