JOHANNESBURG - Three children died in a shack fire in Wolmaranstad, North West Province on Sunday.
The children aged between three and nine burnt to death.
Police said the children were left alone in the shack with a paraffin stove which was left on.
Residents of the Chris Hani informal settlement tried to open the door to rescue the children.
The mother had left the shack to fetch water.
A case of arson has been opened.
