CAPE TOWN – Western Cape health officials said eight women had to be taken to hospital after a suspected gas leak in Epping on Wednesday afternoon.
It is suspected the leak came from a furniture factory.
The women complained about tight chest pains and nausea.
Emergency Medical Services Keri Davids said the area does not pose any danger.
“It is believed the company does not work with gas, but after being tested by the local fire and rescue crew, they found there was no gas substances present in the factory.”
She added that they administered oxygen to the patients on the scene and they were transported to hospital.
