A two-year-old boy is in a serious but stable condition in a Nelspruit Hospital after a near drowning incident in a swimming pool in a residential complex in Steiltes, Nelspruit, this morning.
The cause of the incident and the series of events leading up to it remain uncertain.
Common cause information suggests that the toddler had fallen into the uncovered pool. He was pulled from the frigid water and was not breathing. A resident, thought to be a neighbour, initiated CPR while Paramedics responded to the scene.
Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the boy in a serious condition, the CPR having resulted in spontaneous respiration. Paramedics took over care of the boy who was transported by ambulance to a nearby medical facility.
