A construction worker was seriously injured when he was hit by falling implements that were being raised by a crane at a site in Foreshore, Cape Town, this afternoon.
The cause of the accident and the series of events preceding it remain uncertain and will form the subject of an internal investigation.
Common cause information suggests that the worker was hit by falling pieces of scaffolding.
Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the man in a serious condition. He was rapidly stabilised at the site and transported by ambulance to the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
