I have noticed that the SAWS has issued several weather warnings for tomorrow. The SAWS warn of severe thunderstorms in the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Free State and Kwazulu Natal. Snowfall is expected over the extreme north-eastern parts of the Eastern Cape province. If severe thunderstorms materialize I classify this as strange and uncommon weather for this time of year in South Africa. I know that the odd thunderstorm is possible during winter in areas but this late in June is not normal. Bloemfontein recorded 31 mm of rain since midnight. This is also abnormal for this time of year.
My local weather observations today reflect a bank of cumulonimbus clouds south of the country which is towering out over the sea in Mossel Bay. The last time these clouds were observed it resulted in heavy rain over parts of the Eastern Cape. I would like to advise observers to be on full alert for the next 48 hours. We might just experience severe weather in parts of South Africa.

The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

thank you so much for your observations and they are duly noted. what with the solar storms in full swing until next year, and the "near misses" of asteroids and comets, and the temperatures causing all sorts of havoc in our oceans; with our volcanoes; and our tectonic plates; the poisoning of our atmosphere and oceans; and the horrific littering/sewerage problems of our world, etc. ... yes, i'm afraid it's not surprising that this is quite a turn into the ice age, if that is what it ultimately is... but please, don't stop posting your observations as there are people out there who do take heed of your warnings: surfers, paragliders, swimmers, sailors, pilots, etc. what disappoints me is that if indeed there are strange and abnormal weather patterns out there tomorrow, i am almost sure that there will be incidents occurring where people have ignored the "BE SAFE, NOT SORRY" signs all over the world... Anyways, just thought I'd thank you for your interesting post...
