The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Weather Observation: Cape Town (21 June 2012 16h00 SAST)
Image 1 taken facing E/NE. Cape Town harbour in foreground, Blouberg in background and a dense layer of brown smog 'parallel' to the deck of the oil rig on the left.
Clouds (almost twice the height of Table Mountain) approaching slowly, photo taken facing W over the Cape Town stadium. The odd (large -about the size of 3x Lion match heads together) drops of rain were falling for about 5 minutes and I left the area.
