The Eden District Municipality says it has already established its joint operations centre after receiving early warnings this week.
The head of the district municipality's disaster management, Gerhard Otto, says snow has been reported on most of the mountain ranges in the Eden District.
He says they've also had reports of snow as low as road-level in the De Hoek area in Oudtshoorn.
"Further to that we started receiving the heavy rain for more Stormsriver and then towards Knysna late on Thursday night, on 3 o clock on Friday morning the Eden disaster centre joined operation centre part has been activated and we have been co-ordinating through the district to monitor the situation throughout the day" Otto said.
