Cape Town - Severe weather conditions have caused power disruptions in parts of the Eastern Cape, Eskom said on Saturday.
"Heavy snow, strong winds and rain in the Eastern Cape have affected some of Eskom's transmission and distribution infrastructure, while road closures due to the weather have made access a challenge," the power utility said in a statement.
Technicians have been dispatched in helicopters and off-road vehicles to restore power to those areas which have experienced interruptions to power supply, it said.
"Eskom has managed to effect repairs and prevent interruptions to power supply in most parts of the province, and it is working to restore power as soon as possible to those areas which have been affected.
"These include Tsitsikama, Queesnstown, Kareedouw, parts of Uniondale and Elliot, Storms River and Aliwal North, and the Tiffendale ski resort."
With further inclement weather expected, Eskom technicians are on standby in East London and Port Elizabeth to attend to any repairs that may be needed.
Technicians are monitoring conditions in the province closely, Eskom said.
