Fire wreaks havoc in Hout Bay – 400 people homeless
CAPE TOWN – An assessment following the fire that occurred at the Mandela Park Informal Settlement near Hout Bay was conducted at first daylight today by disaster response teams.
Following the verification process 80 shacks were destroyed that resulted in 400 people been left homeless.
It has been confirmed that the adult male that died in the fire is Monwabisi Nguze (39 years) which has been identified by his brother.
It is alleged that the deceased was intoxicated at the time of the incident and went to bed without extinguishing a candle.
