A helicopter pilot believed to be in his late twenties had a narrow escape after crashing on a farm about 8km outside of Kimberly this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the pilot some distance from his helicopter which was now on fire. They assessed him and found that he had sustained very minor injuries. The paramedics transported the patient to a hospital in Kimberley for a general medical check up.
It is believed that the pilot was on his way to a farm to teach students how to fly when he started having problems with the helicopter. He was able to do an emergency landing and get out in time before the helicopter caught a light. The necessary authorities were called to the scene to investigate the incident further.
