The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Adult male dies in Khayelitsha fire
At 01:19 on Monday, 27 August 2012 a fire occurred at CCT – Section, Site C, Nyandeni Crescent, CCT 279 Taiwan, Khayelitsha.
One (1) shack was destroyed by the fire and Thabiso Qashani (31 years) died as a result.
The circumstances regarding the occurrence of the fire are unconfirmed and the SAPS have opened an inquest to investigate these incident.
