Electrician suffers flash burns
A man in his late 20′s was rewiring a house in Farramere, Benoni this afternoon when it appears that the Main Electrical Board of the house suddenly caught alight.
The young electrician who was working on the board at the time, had suffered burns to his face, neck, chest, both arms and hands and his colleagues immediately put him in a vehicle and rushed him to the Farramere Fire Station. The Firemen immediately initiated treatment on the man while they called the Advanced Life Support paramedic from ER24, explaining that the man would need Advanced care due to the severity of burns that he had suffered.
ER24 arrived at the Fire Station and took over the man’s care, providing him with further Burn Shield to cool his burns and pain medication as he was in excruciating pain. The young man was alert and conscious throughout the ordeal, and he was taken to the Linmed Hospital for further treatment. Paramedics explained that it appeared that his hands had been the most severely burned and he would most likely need extensive care on them.
Luckily no one else had been injured in the incident.
