Durban - Lifesavers in KwaZulu-Natal are mystified by the vanishing of one of their team members who disappeared during routine training at Addington Beach over the weekend.
The Daily News reported that Sandile Dlamini, 24, was believed to have drowned after falling off a rescue ski boat while paddling with four other lifeguards.
He had been with the club since 2007 and the KwaZulu-Natal head, Mike Raubenheimer, said he had known Dlamini for a long time and that he was a good swimmer.
“Right now we cannot say what really happened to him. What we know is that one minute he was on the ski boat and the next he just disappeared in the water. He was a very good swimmer, so this is all just a total mystery to us. It really is,†said Raubenheimer.
Dlamini’s family was still in shock and hoped that he would be found alive.
