Man critically injured in Roodeplaat Dam fall
A man was critically injured when he fell from a ladder while working at the Roodeplaat Dam in Derdepoort, Pretoria, this afternoon.
The cause of the incident and the series of events preceding it remain unclear.
Common cause information suggests that that the man had been working on a ladder when he lost his footing and plunged several meters onto the ground below.
Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the worker in a critical condition, having sustained severe head trauma. Emergency workers stabilised the man and called for the assistance of the Netcare1 Aeromedical Helicopter.
The helicopter landed at the scene and airlifted the man to the Steve Biko Academic Hospital.
