Large parts of Gauteng’s West Rand was left without power as snow continued to fall across the province on Tuesday.
It appears that the cold weather affected electricity supply in both Roodepoort and Krugersdorp.
Johannesburg City Power spokesperson Louis Pieterse said technicians are working to restore power to affected areas.
“It is a very large power failure. We have dispatched technicians to determine the cause.”
Meanwhile, power utility Eskom urged South Africans to switch off non-essential appliances.
Eskom spokesperson Hillary Joffe said they were closely monitoring demand to prevent any disruptions.
