The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Chinese lanterns kan tot boetes lei
MOSSELBAAI NUUS - Die opstuur van brandende luglanterns, ook bekend as Chinese lanterns, kom op 'n brandgevaar neer, en verteenwoordig daarom ook 'n oortreding van die Munisipaliteit se Verordening insake
Gemeenskapsbrandveilighed. Die oortreding is strafbaar met 'n boete van R5 000 of gevangenisstraf van tot ses maande.
Die Mosselbaaise Munisipaliteit versoek inwoners en besoekers daarom om nie die lanterns los te laat nie.
Die praktyk was in die verlede veral gewild tydens die feesseisoen.
Die munisipaliteit wys ook daarop dat die afvuur van vuurwerke sonder die skriftelike toestemming van die munisipaliteit nie in die Mosselbaaise munisipale gebied toegelaat word nie. Dit sluit karavaanparke, asook strate, sypaadjies, strandgebiede, ensovoorts, in. Oortredings in hierdie verband is ook strafbaar met 'n boete of gevangenisstraf of albei.
