The City of Cape Town has been alerted to an injured whale in the Derdesteen area near Bloubergstrand. There are also reports of three great white sharks in the vicinity of the whale.
The Law Enforcement’s Marine Unit and officials from the Environmental Resource Management Department are on their way to the coastline to oversee the situation.
The Department of Environmental Affairs has also recruited the SAPS Border Police Unit to assist.
The City requests the public to please adhere to any instructions given by officials. If bathers are requested to leave the water, they must do so immediately.
