The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

"Tornado" next to N4 approx. 50Km from Machadadorp (18 December 2012)
We were driving back from Jhb to Nelspruit this afternoon and it was great to this tornado less than 1Km next to N4 (approx. 50Km from Machadadorp)! It only lasted about 5 minutes after we first spotted it. - Way to Grow
