UPDATE: Heavy Rain and Flooding: Parts of South Africa (18 - 21 January 2013)

Further heavy rain is forecast for parts of the North West, Gauteng, Eastern Free State, Kwazulu Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga up to Monday (21 January 2013). Flash Flooding and Flooding already occurred in parts of Limpopo (Kruger National Park), Mpumalanga and Kwazulu Natal and is expected to continue to occur in places. Please refrain from crossing low level bridges, flooded roads and ravines. Three vehicles, including an ambulance, were swept off a bridge in Malelane, several people had to be rescued while rescue personal are still searching for the occupants of a patrol vehicle. Parts of Kwazulu Natal, Mpumalanga and Limpopo already received heavy rain in the past two days with rivers currently in flood. Areas in these three provinces can expect heavy rain (>100) tonight and tomorrow. The flood levels are expected to rise in areas. The public is advised not to venture into flooded areas and to rather stay at home until flood levels have receded.
