The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

UPDATE: SEARCH AT INANDA DAM - TUESDAY, 08th January, 2013
Yesterday, Monday, 07th January, NSRI Durban towed the sea rescue craft SPIRIT OF SVITZER, which was launched on Inanda Dam, to assist Police Search and Rescue in an ongoing search for the body of Nduduzo Mdletshe, the regional chairman of Mkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association, who went missing on Sunday while swimming during a water skiing trip with family and friends on Inanda Dam near Durban.
NSRI Durban, Police, a Police Search and Rescue team, a Police K-9 dog search and rescue unit, a Police helicopter and Netcare 911 were involved in the ongoing search and despite the extensive ongoing search no sign of missing Nduduzo Mdletshe has been found.
Today, Tuesday, 08th January, NSRI Durban are again joining Police in the ongoing search and the NSRI Durban sea rescue boat, SPIRIT OF SVITZER, will again be launched on the dam to continue to assist Police in the ongoing search.
