The Cape of Good Hope Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is dealing with an increase in cases involving animals suffering from severe heat stress.
Staff said they have treated more than 20 animals over the past few days.
This as Cape Town battles with heat wave conditions.
The SPCA's Lamees Martin called on pet owners to ensure their best friends are not left lying in the scorching heat.
“Our vets are treating animals for shock and dehydration. Most of these animals are being kept for observation, to monitor their temperatures,” she added.
