A man believed to be in early 30’s was killed after a train collided into his light motor vehicle at a crossing about 4km outside of Potchefstroom in the direction of Klerksdorp this morning.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the light motor vehicle near to the railway lines with extensive damage to the passenger side. The vehicle was on its wheels but paramedics said that it looked like the vehicle may have rolled after the collision. The driver was found inside the vehicle and was assessed but unfortunately he had suffered serious traumatic and fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene. No one was injured in the train.
The circumstances around this accident are not clear but the local authorities will have to investigate the accident further.
