GEORGE NEWS - A 12-year-old girl drowned in a dam in Pacaltsdorp, George today.
According to ER24 spokesman, André Visser, 3 girls, aged between 10 and 12, had gone swimming to cool off.
"Two of the girls got out of the dam after a while, losing sight of their friend," explains Visser. "They then rushed off and told their parents. The girls later told rescue workers that they felt as if they were becoming stuck in the muddy bottom, and that was why they got out."
Police divers removed the missing girl's body from the dam.
She was declared dead at the scene.
More information to follow as it becomes available.
