A 27-year-old man drowned in a swimming pool in Kimberley on Wednesday afternoon, paramedics said.
A child found the man's body at the bottom of the pool in Carrington Road, Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks said.
Police divers pulled the body from the water.
"It appears the man had been immersed for an extended period of time."
The circumstances of the accident remained unclear and police would investigate.
