OUDTSHOORN NEWS - In line with other emergency services the Air Mercy Service (AMS) operations also noted an increased number of calls to sea related incidents and accidents over the festive season.
The Cape Town and Oudtshoorn Metro/AMS rescue helicopters have logged 13 and 7 sea rescue responses respectively over December alone.
The Oudtshoorn emergency helicopters were placed strategically to ensure increased civilian coverage over the holiday period and over December the Metro/AMS Oudtshoorn rescue helicopter conducted 47 emergency missions compared to 63 in Cape Town.

These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
