OUDTSHOORN NEWS - On Monday, December 2, Oudtshoorn was brought to a near standstill by a power failure that lasted nearly three hours.
One of the circuit breakers in the 22 000 KV main substation apparently flashed over and blew up, affecting the electrical supply to certain areas in Oudtshoorn.
Great damage was caused as one capacitor bank that was responsible for power factor correction has been completely destroyed. Electrical technicians are still determining the cost of the damage.
The office of the Municipal Manager, Thandekile Mnyimba apologised to the community of Greater Oudtshoorn for the unexpected outage.
