A 22 year old male surfer sustained possible serious injuries this afternoon while surfing at Llandudno.
The surfer had allegedly caught a wave, but proceeded to fall. He then dove head first into a sand bank. Lifesavers saw that the surfer was in distress and quickly entered the water to assist the injured man.
Due to the injuries sustain and the steep and long walk from the beach to the parking lot, on-scene paramedics promptly dispatched the ER24 Discovery Medicopter to the scene.
The patient then received treatment at the scene for suspected back and neck injuries before being airlifted to Mediclinic Constantiaberg for further treatment.
