Dogs rescued at Kloof Gorge
(Above: The rescue team with the two rescued Jack Russells)
Two Jack Russells have had a narrow escape after being trapped for nearly five days at the Kloof Gorge.
A Rescue Tech team has managed to bring the dogs to safety after they fell about 30 metres into a ravine.
The team's Mark Easton says rescuers had to abseil through the narrow opening to reach the dogs yesterday.
Easton says the playful pair miraculously haven't been injured.
"They were extremely excited to see our rescue technician come down and in fact ran towards him. I can't describe or explain to you the look on his face as he saw the two dogs coming towards him," he said.
He says the SPCA was notified yesterday by a Kloof resident who had heard the dogs barking from across the gorge.
The dogs are now in the care of the local SPCA.
