A twenty two-year-old man is in a critical condition in the Polokwane State Hospital after a near drowning in a swimming pool at a residence this evening.
The cause of the incident and the series of events leading up to it remain unclear.
Common cause information indicates that the man had been among a group having a party at the residence. Other revelers noticed the man at the bottom of the swimming pool and pulled him from the water.
Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene and immediately initiated care. They started CPR and intubated him before placing him on a manual ventilator. Effective CPR was eventually successful and the man regained a pulse. He was rushed by ambulance to the state medical facility for the urgent care he required.
