Man mauled by dogs

A man is fighting for his life in a Johannesburg Hospital after he was mauled by two BoerBull Terriers at a residence in Helderkruin, Roodepoort, this afternoon.

The cause of the incident and the series of events leading up to it remain unclear.

Common cause information indicates that the man, working as part of a garden service team, had been stowing equipment in a vehicle when the large dogs got loose and attacked him. The animals mauled the man before they were eventually warded off.

Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the man in a critical condition, having sustained limb fractures, lacerations and several puncture wounds to a large portion of his body.

He was rapidly treated and stabilised at the scene and transported by ambulance to a nearby private medical facility for the urgent care that he required.
