It seems the sunny city today has turned into the windy city, with a stiff breeze greeting Durbanites this morning.
The Durban Weather Bureau says these conditions are not unusual.
The 32 kilometre-per-hour wind though has come as a surprise to some East Coasters as we break a short spell of hotter and more humid conditions.
Forecaster Lucky Makhwedzha says a cold front came through last night, bringing with it a strong south westerly wind and overcast conditions.
Wind gusts peaked at 54 km-per-hour at about 5am this morning.
And those venturing outdoors can expect a few disturbed hairstyles for most of the day.
"We are expecting this wind to persist for the day, we're only expecting it to start dying down by later this afternoon. Between 3pm and 4pm it should start easing off, said Makhwedzha.
