An elderly man died in a chainsaw accident in Pietermaritzburg on Friday, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.
“Reports from the scene indicate that the man was cutting trees behind a factory at around 11am when the chainsaw slipped and struck him in the groin,” Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said in a statement.
He was in his 80s.
“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene within three minutes of receiving the call; tragically they found that the man had died before their arrival due to the extensive injuries that he sustained.”
