A two-year-old boy died in the Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria after a drowning incident in a swimming pool at a residence in Lynnwood this morning.
The cause of the incident and the series of events preceding it remain unclear and will form the subject of a South African Police Force investigation.
Common cause information suggests that the boy had fallen into a swimming pool and had been immersed for an unknown period. He was rushed by family to a local doctor who initiated care and called for the assistance of Netcare911 Paramedics.
Medics took over care of the boy whose condition was critical. Despite their best efforts to revive the child, he was declared dead on arrival at the specialist academic hospital.
